HOME & AWAY BOOK LAUNCH  For the past 20 years, New Zealand’s only professional association of travel writers, photographers, broadcasters and communicators has held the prestigious Travel Media Awards. To celebrate this anniversary, Travcom collaborated with New Holland Publishers to present Home & Away, an anthology of 35 stories by award winners.
Travel is in the Kiwi bloodstream: whether bound for Kaiwaka or Kowloon, we have an insatiable appetite for living out of a suitcase and, in select cases, writing about it.
At the book launch, held at the Heritage Hotel, seventeen authors and over seventy guests mixed and mingled. Keynote speaker Gordon McLauchlan, co-founder of Travcom, talked about how the travel writing industry has changed over the past 20 years. Graeme Lay spoke about the selection process and a few contributors read excerpts from Home & Away.
