Calling for Entries 2010 Whitcoulls Travcom Travel Book of the Year Award
| The Award is presented for the best original book of creative travel writing about any country, including New Zealand. Whitcoulls
awards the winner $2,000 cash and $500 in book vouchers. The runner-up receives $500 in book vouchers.
Once all the entries have been received in December 2009 we will ask readers to vote for their favourite book in our Readers' Choice Award. The judging will be completely separate from the Whitcoulls Travcom Travel Book of the Year Award and will be carried out on-line with a prize for the winning author and for a voter (chosen randomly). |
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY • Entries must be written by New Zealand citizens or by authors resident in NZ for the last two years.• Entrants must be paid-up members of Travcom to enter the Awards and receive prizes. A completed and signed Travcom membership form must accompany entries if entering the Awards and joining Travcom for the first time. • The book must be written by no more than two authors. If the book is co-authored each author must agree to enter. • The author/s are the recipient of the prize. • The book must be written in English and distributed in New Zealand. • The book must be over 50,000 words of travel narrative as determined by the judges. • Primary publication date is the year ending 31 December 2009. • The book cannot be a directory format, guide or a paid advertorial product. • The book cannot be a reprint or a New Zealand version of an already existing overseas edition. • Four copies of the book must be submitted. • Entries must be nationally available for sale through retail bookshops at standard trade terms throughout the period of the Awards promotion. |

JUDGING The entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges. Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. Shortlists and finalists are not released prior to Tuesday the 23 March 2010. |
AWARDS PRESENTATION All eligible entries will be exhibited at the Awards evening. Entrants are encouraged to attend the Awards Presentation and Gala Dinner at Heritage Auckland Grand Tearoom, 23 March 2010.Download Entry form for the Whitcoulls Travcom Travel Book of the Year Award |
